A quick google search for the cheapest car in the US 10 years ago was the Toyota Yaris at $15,240. I don’t think general CPI is the best indicator, but using a CPI calc shows that same price today is $20,500. So it doesn’t seem like they’ve gotten particularly higher relative to everything else.

All of the real data proves otherwise.

Good lord, is that lead image a car or a 14 year old wannabe youtuber’s room?

Be careful. You’ll have people screaming at you that it’s illegal for you to ride your bike on sidewalks, you’re endangering lives of pedestrians, and bikes are a class of vehicle that must be on the roads and operate under the same road rules as cars. I tried arguing that a person on a bike operating at low speed and

The employee is just really luck they didn’t slam into another car on the road as they were speeding along and fighting. There are many reasons why you don’t fight with a thief in a situation like this. The potential to hurt or kill innocent bystanders is one.

If you ever are in this situation, and I hope you’re not, try to also think of all of the innocent people on the road that you could hit/kill if the speeding car you’re fighting in hits them.

True story. Their policy is probably throw your body in front of the stolen car to try to slow it down a little.

True but that’s clearly indicated as emergency braking only and never marketed as something you can and should rely on, and definitely doesn’t have any kind of ridiculous naming convention like full self-drive or autopilot to make you think that.

Not all of them. Not by a long shot. The bigger banks of chargers may, but I know plenty of places that have just a few chargers at most and not closely watched.

When I saw the image I assume this was just new standard CT livery to warn people that a CT is coming their way to they can get to a safe distance. And the life support gear on board is also required in the event that it severely cuts/crushes the owner or a passenger.

Gas stations have other people working at them and cameras everywhere, which severely limits opportunity for predators. Most EV charging locations are unmanned and can be just on the side of the road or a building or in the middle of a parking lot.

this

You’re not a woman. Nearly every woman faces some kind of sexual harassment or assault in their life. Having your car tethered to a giant electrical box is the perfect opportunity for predatory people.

True, but I’m still surprised they didn’t try to charge for it since the initial unit wasn’t free.

Not just arrogant, but all just plain stupid. Clearly the opinion of a very dumb person who doesn’t know shit about technology. Even layman can understand the huge advantages of radar and lidar tech, which could have made could have gotten them to L3 driving by now if that moron wasn’t at the helm.

But the car also failed to recognize the motorcyclist also. Shouldn’t the car ,or the company that made the automated system, be just as liable in a situation like that? Would a human be allowed a license if they couldn’t actually drive up to minimum standards as long as they pinky swear they will have someone sitting

At a minimum, the companies should share int he liability of any accidents... especially when the CEO of the company keeps boasting about how it’s so safe and creating more false sense of security.

I will never ride a motorcycle or even aa bicycle on the road for that reason. I will not put my life into the hands of the idiots on the road who could and probably would severely injure or kill me.

But the system will be totally ready for full robotaxi rollout this year!

Yeah there’s no amount of scrubbing that could clean out the terrible terrible things that probably happened in that van.
