Almost one whole season in, and I’m still in the fence about The Chi. It has moments of greatness, but a bunch of inbetween where it feels like it’s the poor man’s The Wire.

“I don’t see anything wrong with someone being “just an asexual black character” either. At least SOMEONE on the show would be asexual then.”

What in the hell is the deal with the FBI agent? He acts like Archie absolutely has to do what he says, but as far as I can recall, he didn’t arrest Archie and make him a deal that was contingent on Archie becoming an informant. Also, the way his scenes are, it feels like they want us to be uncertain of whether the

Too many crises spoil the plot. Maybe they’re trying to give them all individual plotlines to appease fan factions rather than just picking one crisis and have them move forward and grow as characters together.

I’m surprised her parents were cool with performing “Bittersweet Symphony,a “clean” song that is still wildly inappropriate for a Confirmation. “’You’re a slave to the money, then you die’... Anyway, let’s talk about your spiritual commitment.”

“If Archie can’t even handle my grandma’s fingers, how can he handle murder!”

Remember when Riverdale was a bunch of kids dealing with a heightened tragedy? And now its multiple outrageous plots flinging the characters wherever. The FBI, a murderous son, the crime lord, prostitutes (plural) and whatever the serpents are

I’m really confused about Chic’s “clients.” Between his “scars” and the hostel pimp, it makes way less sense for him to be a cam guy than to be an actual prostitute. It almost feels like that was changed between episodes.

Attitude Hal is very entertaining and is always welcome.

There are no “try-outs” for wrestling. You need bodies in that sport, so you generally take all of them you can get (I wrestled in HS and college, plus I coached in HS). You have wrestle-offs, in practice, to determine who goes varsity, who goes jayvee, and who sits, but I have never heard of cuts in wrestling.

Sweet Pea became my low-key favorite character this episode. “Woo! Fuck yeah, real school! I’m gonna wear a turtleneck!”

Underrated relationship on the show: Archie and Cheryl. Archie saving Cheryl at the frozen lake last season is still my favorite ever scene on the show. And Archie made sure to get Cheryl DOUBLE the money from her (almost) rapist, and Cheryl covered for him with Veronica, even though she like everyone else figured out

Ah, this show, always a mile a minute.

I was hoping the letter would say “ also I am joining a band called The Who”

Worst Riverdale ep so far? So much hork with Betty stripteasing at a party full of middle age men+her mom, whatever Cheryl is doing to Josie, and Archie and Veronica trying to sing. And not a lot of fascinating mystery stuff/funny quips to compensate.

The main illegality i saw at the party was Toni, a high school girl, serving alcoholic drinks from behind the bar of a bar, so, I don’t know, maybe things on the south side really are totally out of control.

Couldn’t agree more with this review. This was melodramatic teen bullshit.

Well a spin off based on the least likable character on a TV show is bound to be successful.

That's not the same girl or mother. Racist!

I'm thinking that Arnold was also a host - probably the first that Ford built - and was designed to help build and control the others, and that when he eventually became self-aware he destroyed himself or was destroyed. The names of the hosts/"people" who been around longest seem too coincidental otherwise
