I was a broke-ass college student in Florida in the 90s, driving shitty hand-me-down cars, and I had air conditioning. (Except for the *really* shitty car that would overheat and boil away whatever was in the radiator if I didn’t roll down the windows and blast the heater.)

The questions that this doesn’t answer are frustrating. What were the study participants’ habits before the test, and did that have an effect? How about all of the other sweeteners? How about actual Diet Coke / real Coke instead of sugar water, is there a different psychological element to it?

I’ve been diabetic for

Some shaving cream works, some not so well.  I use shampoo for my shaving mirror since it works much better.

I had some stripped screws in an audio gear rack and didn’t want to risk scratching up faceplates (or damaging electronics if things got *really* wild). Someone recommended “Vampliers” from Vampire Tools, which are screw extraction pliers with weird extra serrated teeth to bite into the screw head. They did the job

Granted, I watched this in 1986 (when I was 15) and maybe 1992ish?

The original Mad Max movies were not great film, just somewhat weird, often stupid popcorn movies. I don’t have much nostalgia about them, except maybe Tina Turner as Auntie Entity, and Master Blaster and the “two men enter one man leaves” meme thing. Eh.

Fury Road is a different flavor of weird, also often pretty

I watched it with fellow nerds, loved the absurdity, knew it wasn’t a great film but was thoroughly entertained even though I did not then, and still do not now, like Ben Stiller. And I’ll stand by it.

I’m looking forward to these idiots fading into utter obscurity so I can wear my Hawaiian shirts again.

Seen elsewhere:  “I’m going to stop saying ‘avoid it like the plague’ because we’ve learned that people don’t.”

Black Panther: Wanda Forever”

Drug names are awful aren’t they? Seems like they’re harder to pronounce than their chemical formulas sometimes...

I love it when the pharmacist can’t pronounce the stuff I’m on either. “Your Fart-zeega is ready for pickup.”

It was great to hear Chadwick Boseman again.

I was not a fan of Thanos being in this at all, though, nor the Collector becoming this buff brick type. And I kept wondering “why is Nebula wearing that horrible try-hard wig?” but I did get a kick out of her pet name for T’Challa.

New Zealand has been doing it right. That’s 0.06 of their population that’s had COVID, compared to 11.27% and climbing in the US.

It’s actually possible to watch the TV series and not be able to answer that question succinctly.

Giant robots, alien “angels”, at least two conspiracies, an asshole father, a kid coming of age at the worst possible time in history (its end), and an anime producer slowly losing his shit while the studio kills his

Definitely a cost of living thing.

Upon further reflection: assuming this works in a practical sense, and Shady Company X has a profile of User 3AE7F92FE1003B2C61CE, by correlating some subset of the websites they visit. This person probably lives in the Atlanta area and is Hispanic, Catholic, a frequent business flyer, has at least one child, is into

Disabling JavaScript just doesn’t seem realistic. I tried it and it broke GMail, Google Docs, the package tracking page for something I bought from Microsoft, and... Gizmodo.  Then I just gave up and turned it back on.

My XBone controller’s RB button died within the first few weeks. Everything else has been fine.

I pretty much only use it for Art of Rally on the PC, so it hasn’t been a big deal. Kind of torn whether to get another XBox controller or something else though.

Before that I had a Steam controller that lasted fine for years.

At first glance I thought “Guile looks more or less right, but that is not Cammy’s face at all.”

I had to look longer to realize Guile was off. Aside from his (always ridiculous anyway) hair looking more like Frybo from Steven Universe.

This is a fresh take to me — mostly people just talk about how strongly anti-war the movie is, or how different from the novel. (I should probably read the novel sometime!)
