As someone who lives in Northern California, the BIGGEST issue here? Drought. I mean a sort of drought that most of the rest of the country has no clue about. I’ve lived here for 23 years and it USED to be like this: rainy season lasted from October- April.  Dry season was from then till October again. But for the

The big question is will we learn anything through this lesson or will we just continue down the same path?

I won’t try to cite it here, because Kinja hates all my links, but there is some interesting reading on the history of wildfires available from folks in academia, and most of it is... oddly accessible.

They couldn’t race, and all the drivers agreed. However, the drivers also sounded like if it’s just one car out there by itself with no spray from another car, the condition is manageable.

I have a clean title, relatively low mile, white-on-red S2000 that I drilled a bunch of holes in and turned into a track car over the winter. In the eyes of everyone who sees appreciating vehicles as a way to make money and as something to feel guilt over using, I certainly ruined my own car.

Given the depths of bullshit involved with that scenario, the snorkel might come in handy...

man.... getting to whole foods has gotten rough I take it.  Would make for hell of a park service truck, wonder what they use.

limb risers are a thing, but its mostly for show.  Its less about breaking glass and more about keeping overgrown trails from putting low hanging branches into your line of sight.  If you live in the northwest or something I could see some value, but they are mostly about looking rad.

Overlanding” vehicles are such hypercapitalist nonsense. It’s just car camping. Just buy a used SUV and $1000 of camping gear. Entire family is good to go.

Shame they couldn’t get the badge on the tailgate any bigger.....

It would be completely appropriate in large retirement communities like The Villages or Sun City.

Arrghhh. This is worse than the slideshow.

Uh, I still don’t think it looks good, and I’m frankly a fan of the damned thing.

It’s a Volkswagen thing, you wouldn’t understand!

Is it just me, or that steering wheel alignment all funky? At least in the .gif, and in that part of the video.

Other than “Any Luxury Car” and the Super Coupe.. this list makes me sad. I feel like so few people drive manuals now there is no appreciation for rowing your own gears anymore.

I had one of those V8-equipped T-birds and you’re just dead wrong about the auto being better. It was an infuriating lump that never seemed to know which gear it should be in. The “gear hunting” was ridiculous and made we sad I could not option the manual version.

i love that we just duct tape them to the seats like wild animals.  i hope i get to see this next week when i fly.  i wanna write on the duct tape like a cast on a broken arm.
