Hey, I play tuba, but not that well!

The physics department where I got my undergrad has a trebuchet for a local pumpkin fling contest, and it is a fun little experiment in engineering.

I've only been paranoid once. In high school I refused to leave the park we'd smoked in because I was convinced Darth Vader had finally conquered the Earth.

Evil Troy and Evil Aaaaabed!

True. The internet was designed around the hope that people would experience different viewpoints and cultures and learn from that. Instead, we isolate ourselves with the group we want to be with, and any information outside of that bubble is heresy.

I know no better quote for this week other than "In the beginning the universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move."

Hopefully, if NGT and others are able to succeed, we'll at least raise the ability to critically think about a problem. So you might now have any experience with tax law or what-have-you, but you can at least look at the source of who is telling you why it is/isn't a good thing. If the person telling you trickle-down

What is going to be maddening is, in four years, when all those jobs he said were going to be back aren't and things are even shittier, people will still line up to vote for him. And not just the virulent racists, the same people he lied to. They'll say it's the Democrats fault they don't have jobs yet, when the

I wish you were right, but I feel that Trump is really just a figurehead. He doesn't actually care about the position, just the title. The Republicans have their figurehead and puppet, and they'll make him dance however they want him to.

This. This is why I'm so despondent today. So many people of color and of a different sexual orientation and different religions are waking up and living in more fear now. They shouldn't have to. No one should, especially in America. But, here we are anyway.

I'm dreading how much gerrymandering will occur.

Oh so very fucking much. "I want to watch it all burn down, so we can build something better!" Shitheads, you don't just get to build up again in a few minutes. It takes decades, if not more!

I've said it elsewhere, but I'll say it here, too. Republicans won all branches of the government today. I don't see how the basic human rights won by non-whites in the past 8 years stick around. I won't be affected much by this result. I'll still have student loans, I'll still get to go to grad school. I'm so sad

I honest to god hope so with Pence whispering in his ear to get rid of it. But I'm also worried for anyone of any color. Trump brought the racists out of the woodwork, and now with this result they will think they have power again. Because, right now, I think they do. And that sickens me to no end.

If he's like me, he's deciding whether or not it's worth it anymore.

I don't see how it will be all right when all the rights we fought for are going to disappear within a few months. I honestly don't see how it gets better from here.

We never grew past the 1950s ideals.

And the Supreme Court. Goodbye everything progressives have worked for.

We just proved that being a sexist pig means you get ahead in America. A fucking great lesson.

I plan to do that, more so than ever before. But, Christ, we're stuck in the 50s mentality and I am having a hard time believing things are going to be all right anymore.
