i was hoping there would be an announcement at the end of September saying that they had fixed the problem, no more bumpers because of the fix, and you can finally get an white one.

Ok clearly you haven't read Freedom by Daniel Suarez. It and the prequel Daemon were recommended here on Giz and were the best books i've read in a LONG time.

It ruins the look unless the band has built in bluetooth. It'd be great if you could plug it into the ipod nano port and use it to power the antenna

@ForTehNguyen: I am in that same boat on the ATT iphone 4 side. Never wanted a dataplan but $15 /month x 24 months is about the same as an unsubsidized phone. The difference is 250 megs is an actual usable amount where 25 megs isn't. They should charge 1$ /month for that

@stan-the-man: It ends sept 7th and right now no. The free one is the 2g 8gb model and you can pay the difference for the 3G version. You might have to go to the store and see if you can convince them to let you pay the difference for the new one.

Facetime to iChat seems 2 months late now and counting. Granted this was an iPod event, but it seems like a straight putt now that facetime is making its way to non phones.

If it has a front camera it will have facetime, if it has facetime it will have a microphone. That would make it the ultimate VOIP handset ... an interesting implication, but one that I doubt Apple would shake up today. Hopefully i'm wrong.

Always wait for the 2nd revision, unless its a first gen iPhone (buy that immediately!) then dismiss the next revisions of 3G and 3GS as not real revisions, then wait for the real 2nd revision in the iphone 4.
