Rides Bicycles but Loves Cars

Randomly speaking my thoughts when driving alone. Not even whole sentences, but a word here or there. I know my dash camera is picking that verbal diarrhea up. I’ve passed on downloading some hilarious (non-crash) driving fails because if it. I could be thinking “Before I ride tomorrow, I need to check the spokes, air

I usually leave my chains on for 10k miles. Even with monthly cleaning and lubricating, they get a lot of excess wear due to dust kicked up at my work. The fine grit gets into the master link slots and takes more time to get cleaned out than to just use a chain breaker.  I do love master links when replacing chains!

I have two useless tools;

There’s your problem! You didn’t convert from kPa to psi at the border!

I’ve rarely had luck with the master links.  Usually turn to the chain breaker after a few tries.

Obviously wasn’t my Subaru dealer. First oil change I did myself (after warranty), I need my 1/2" electric impact to take out the drain plug. When properly torqued, 3/8" ratchet is all I need. My wife’s car had the head of her drain plug twisted so bad I needed a rounded bolt head extractor and the impact to get it

Powerwalls make sense in my state, even in the city. Oklahoma has a grid connect fee based on your max energy draw per month. A Powerwall reduces that, and helps reduce the duck curve. The duck curve is the increase in grid power consumption when the sun sets and solar generation stops. It requires spiker plants

Yes!  Give everyone time to adjust before the higher fuel prices begin affecting their budget.  The lower income people everyone is concerned about should have time to wait until their current car dies before replacing it with something more fuel efficient.  People will either start buying more efficient cars or

Can we see two of these transporters joust?

I predict more states and countries will jump on the “no new ICE vehicles past 2035" bandwagon. So many will join, that the expected jump in demand for EV components will greatly outpace the industries ability to ramp up production.  Not to mention the charging infrastructure that needs to be online by then. I had no

At work, we dream about bare bones basic work trucks getting made again. I’m not talking about anything on the market today, but something that can’t be optioned past $40k. Want leather? Heated seats? Automatic wipers and headlights? Sorry, not available. Two wheelbases. 1. Regular cab with short bed. 2. Regular cab

Car listed with the wrong stereo?  Don’t even get me started with manual transmissions!

They may already have sufficient investments and the (minor) hassle of moving that money around to generate more than 2% return isn’t worth their time.

IC Bus currently sells gasoline and propane powered school buses with an engine based off the GM big block. Although theirs is 537 cubic inches, not 454. Before the tune was dialed back, it was possible to spin the rear tires on a short wheelbase bus. As long as the engine in this bus isn’t built to late 70's or 80's

They are getting taller. Length and width are roughly equal for several generations These two Silverados are stock...

It’s a “lifestyle vehicle” and not a work truck. The fact that it has truck capabilities is just a bonus. Even Elon has stated that if it doesn’t sell well, redesigning the exterior to look more conventional could be done.

The high cost of OEM Subaru windshields is why my wife had to talk me down from a panic attack when my Outback got a stone chip. Managed to get the chip filled the next day before it grew.  Hopefully the aftermarket is able to step up and find a cheaper (but effective) solution.  Especially with some Outbacks going

You can get away with it on a lot of older mountain bikes with 5-speed freewheels and small chainrings. Once you step up to 7+ gear cassettes and road bike sized front rings, it’s game over.

I’m with a lot of people here, the 1st gen looked better. I loved the sail pillars.  I would especially welcome them back if they could add a mid-gate similar to the Avalance.

I rented one of these years ago. Was the first trailer I ever towed to pick up my first motorcycle! The only rough part of the whole rental was backing it up. Even U-Haul can’t make that easy! It worked so well I never had to worry about how I was going to load/unload, strap the motorcycle down or even hitch/unhitch
