Kevin it’s not so that people can run red lights! The issue is in 99% of intersections with red lights the timing of the lights is far different. If on a normal road a light is yellow for 3-5 seconds, in a red light intersection it can be yellow for much less than that. It can instantly go from yellow to red therefore…

They are likely waiting until there is more adoption among car manufacturers for Carplay. As it stands I believe there are only 3 or 4 manufacturers supporting it.
