Well, it’s the seal, not the lid, except nobody wants to waste or re-prep a jar that doesn’t suck down, hence new lids every time. The disposables aren’t known for lucky reuse, and I sincerely hope people aren’t taking them box to jar without sterilization.

The issue is the rubber seals getting damaged or bent where the vacuum may not be intact. Then you have the potential for yeast and mold growth or Staph or other bacteria if it is not a high acid, low pH canning.

I guarantee you that, not only are these people reusing the lids, they’re canning unsafely the first time. Gonna be so many sick people from this fad. Canning is no joke, you can’t half-ass it.
