I think (but I'm not sure) that the bumping costs only apply if you are forced off the plane. When the look for the volunteers, if you step forward, you only get what they are offering. Plus, you probably get nothing if you are bumped, and rebooked on a flight that matches the arrival time within a few hours.

I would expect nothing more than them saying "Nope, sorry, can't wait with you." and dumping you at the end of the support queue where you "belong." YMMV, but that's what I would expect out of this.

{{blush}} Thanks for the compliment about my reply! {{/blush}}

This can be more difficult when you work from home. I'm a minute counter, myself. If I can't get it done in my normal 9.5 hour work day, it can wait until the next one. I will stay a little longer if needed, or if I've got that "just 5 more minutes and it's done" vibe going. But when your work desk and/or computer

In the case you describe, in most places, the tips would be shared among those who helped you. And, the federally mandated minimum wage is different for those in the service industry and the farming industry. They, too, have a minimum wage. It's just not as high as the one for a guy stocking shelves at Wally-world.

Bob, you don't have to tip, and you don't have to get all rude about not tipping. If you don't want to tip, don't. Just don't be upset when you come back in and the server treats you like garbage.

On a few occasions I've had a meal comped. When it's not the servers fault, I always ask the manager what the bill would have been, and tell him/or her that I would like to tip the server appropriately. When it's not their fault that the meal came an hour late, or that the steak was super raw, they don't deserve to

Be careful, though. I've seen knife blocks where there is a sharpening tool in there. Storing your knives upside down in them might not be good!

Mine does, too!

Thanks to all you folks who chimed in on this. I'm glad to see that it's not what I'm imagining.

MotMob holds a patent that Google is "infringing" on, so Google buys them out. Is that what I'm reading here?

I'm not sure if they can do this, legally, as I haven't read the license, but my concern is that Android may get pulled out of open-source now. Google is making the OS and the Phones? Why bother letting anyone else make phones, too?

I had a bulb break off the base just yesterday, leaving the base inside the socket. It was a candelabra base, so a potato would have been too thick. I stuck the back end of a colored pencil in there, gave it a twist, and it came right out.

OOPS! A YEAR!

I used to travel a ton. 30-40 round trips a week. I did that for about 8 years. Never once was the safety information any different, unless the flight attendant spiced it up a bit. I read my book (yes, real paper!) from start of flight to end of flight, including through the safety instructions. I'm very quiet, and

You should turn your phone off if for no other reason that you won't get a signal anyway, and you'll be eating up the batteries while it searches.

When NOT to reply all would have been a better post, I think. Rule number one: Don't reply all when the email was sent to everyone in the department looking to gather information. For example (this recently happened to me), if your boss asks everyone for the US Citizenship status so they can figure out who is

I'm not an expert, so I can only tell you what I was taught when I was taking it.

I do. I work as a computer consultant. My company's laptop has Outlook for our email, and my client sent me a laptop to work on. That computer has Outlook installed for their email. I struggled for awhile syncing the two, and finally gave up, and just use the separate calendars. I don't have company meetings too

Isshinryu karate says to put the thumb "next to" the fist, so that the tip of your thumb is next to, and just below the first knuckle of your index finger. It's less likely to catch on clothing if you miss your target this way.
