@TheFu: I think the posters point about RAID wasn't that it was backup in and of itself, but that the machine he uses to backup his data happens to be configured with RAID.

I heard a case (can't remember the details) of someone in the UK doing this, and getting charged by the local water company as if the water they had collected had been provided by them over their normal means.

I'd be screwed! Using Vonage means I need broadband to use dialup!

Not seeing the option on my FB account yet.

I had a friend in college who I was very close with. She needed a month's rent to make first/last/deposit. I lent it to her, but it was clear I expected it back, and there was a clear date I expected it back by.

@corypina: Give it to a co-lifehacker who doesn't have one

@edosan: I've been told that the license states it must be installed on Apple branded hardware, and that by putting an Apple logo sticker on the hardware, you are compliant. I don't know if I believe that, but it's a good story, no?

@hypatialh: We are being told to download the image via a torrent. How is that buying it from Apple?

Is OS X free, or are we being told to pirate software to do this?

I am not planning on buying a Droid right now, though I would love one. Given the attitude that the Moto employee showed in that post, I think when and if I do buy a Droid, I'll avoid Moto, even if I never plan on rooting it.

@bucket19: I do get how it works. I've got nothing to hide on my phone. Nothing that would incriminate me in any way for anything.

I can't believe that there is anyone who thinks their work email is private under any circumstances. The stupid lawyer should have known better, too.

@RickS: And, PS: I don't mean to say that this is the attitude we should all have. This is my life, and I choose to live it a certain way. It's the right way for me, but you may feel differently, and that's OK, too.

@Stephen Rice: I guess that's my point. If I am being arrested, then the police have the wrong person. There is nothing on my phone that would help them in any way, so by allowing them to search it, I am making easier to just let me go.

@Flail: Or anything music from Nirvana's Nevermind album. Looking at the cover art on that could be considered child porn!

Outside of the occasional speeding incident, I generally don't do much to get the police's attention. If I were arrested tomorrow, and they asked me for the password to my phone, I'd give it to them. Yes, I know it's my right to not do it, but it's also my right to do it, and I've got nothing to hide.

@AmphetamineCrown: My father told me a story. Every hotel has a room or two they don't rent out. Hotels are NEVER full, he says. (I don't know if that's true or not.) When he was going to be late, he called and said he was. He flight kept getting delayed. He kept calling, and they kept saying it would be OK. The

Be careful. To pull this off, first, you have to have a late checking guaranteed. Then you should call ahead if you're going to be any later than say 8:00pm. Otherwise, you might end up being the no-show whose room gets given away. If you call ahead, and tell them you're coming in late, and you have the late

If you're talking about net neutrality in the sense that all traffic is considered equal, you'll actually not miss anything, since it will all be available, except slower. If you're talking about net neutrality in the sense that all information is accessible, that's a different story. Considering that it's what

I tried it, and it didn't work for me. At first I thought it was the song selections, but then I sent in the same exact texts that Kevin sent in, and got the same response every time: Sorry, rick, I couldn't find....
