My company has a standard, supported desktop available for Linux that we can use instead of the standard, supported desktop available for Windows.

I love the way they did that. Just Awesome!

I love how 36 seconds can add up to $300 million. I call it crap. I bet most people who spent 36 seconds on google pac-man ended up making up the time by getting their work done. If it was an hour, I could see it, but 36 seconds is less than a trip to the bathroom.

What gets me about the iPod/iPhone/IPad software control issue is that it's exactly the kind of thing that the woman in the white tank top threw her sledge hammer to stop back in that famous commercial in 1984. 26 years later, and Steve is the guy on the screen barking at the mindless masses.

I tested my installs of Firefox (my default), Chrome and IE6. All came across as unique.

I wouldn't do the dry erase thing as I hate the stickers. If the place puts it on my window to remind me, the sticker never makes it out of the parking lot.

Disagree on the one credit card thing. I have one personal card, and one business card that would both need to be with me when I travel. Plus, some people have health account debit cards they use to pay their medical bills. That's three credit cards.

@Prairie Moon: I love the seriousness of that last sentence! It's a good one in context. You get my laugh for today.

I'm going to agree with what people are saying here. Unless you can do this on an internal drive, I don't think you're going to save much time. Any advantage you gain by moving the read write to an external drive will be lost to the speed of a USB drive.

Tried it just now, and it works OK, I guess. Lighting is a big must, as the frames appear "well lit", and if your face isn't, it doesn't work all that well. Also, I'm guessing it helps to be as attractive as their models, which, sadly, I am not.

@spanky: Wow, asking a friend if you have a chronic illness when considering you for a job is kind of illegal. Unless the illness would prevent you from doing the job (someone who passes out all the time, for example, couldn't be an airline pilot). Even if you weren't looking for a job a the time, that something I

@Prairie Moon: You should start by just doing the search. See what it turns up.

@RickS: BTW, a quick google search of Rick Seiden turns up a ton of hits on other Rick Seidens. The ones relating to me are almost all techie related, and nothing I'd be ashamed of. At least within the first three pages. Who knows what's after that!

I wonder what kind of litigation this sort of thing can lead to. Especially when people are using what others said about a perspective hire/client/tenant in their decision process.

@TheFu: What tool do you use to VPN to your home network?

Instead of saying that relying on Flash on the iPhone/Pad would leave the user at the whim of the third party, I think what Jobs meant to say is that Flash on the iPhone/Pad would open up the platform to any Flash developer, and stop Apple's control over your device.

Something I never understood about hotel wifi. The odds of getting free wifi are inversely proportional to how much you pay. In other words, the more you are paying for a room, the less likely it is you'll get free wifi. If I'm paying MORE for a room, I expect to get MORE, not pay for extras.

@valmorphorize: I don't need this trick. I'm a guy. I have no clue what the hell this post is about!
