A PHEV is basically just a Hybrid with a slightly bigger battery, a bigger motor and different software. It shouldn’t cost much more to make than a HEV, especially if you only make PHEVs and don’t futz around with making both and get the economies of scale working.
I “dedicate” about 30 seconds to charging, which is how long it takes to get out of my car at home, walked to the EVSE, and plug in my car. DCFC is meant exclusively for road tripping outside of the range of your car. If you can’t charge at home you really shouldn’t be getting into an EV right now. People have to…
Rick is right.
The Federal EV credits ARE income based. I know because I do not qualify as I make too much.
I live in a city in that situation and it hasn't impeded EV adoption at all. There's even a damn Cybertruck in my neighborhood.
Those very same people don’t have gas stations at their home either, and have to leave their homes looking for a gas pump connected to an underground storage tank.
No more lifelines to the petroleum industry, which is what hybrids give. The continuation of the usage and need for gas.
Building and attempting to sell a huge $80k plus Hummer or another huge pick up truck is repugnant to people who’s idea of an EV also encompasses the idea of efficiency. Look at the EVs that are selling. Cheaper, and not huge.
To be fair, they weren’t actually that cheap. The subsidies played a major role.
This... “We cant sell EV’s.”
its slowing because 60% yoy is hard to keep up. also slowing because they keep pulling back sub 40k evs and trying to sell us 80k trucks and suvs. if rivian can keep that 35k price on the r3 they claimed id gladly buy one. or lease one if i was in colorado and could get that 9$ a month lease on a leaf. wish texas…
Same crap, pandering to a part of the population that has no clue and less brains when it comes to spending money wisely.
Right here, before your eyes, a price increase for the sake of a price increase. Pure gouging. This…is why we have non-textbook inflation. Greed.
The orange paint? Or the use of a rear window?
Cadillac was once the ‘Standard of the World’ but started losing the script in the 1970's. There have been so many ‘bad’ Cadillacs since then, but my number one pick is the Cimarron
Decently rare in the US. This is the kind of car I like taking to a car show, rare from low production and geography, not something mass produced like a toaster oven. You will get attention and questions.
The Blackwood was my thought while reading OP’s comment, but I think it’s fair to give that crown to the EV Hummer because of the size/weight and huge potential for how much damage one of those could cause due to their insane acceleration ability.
The XM. I’ve always loved BMW and still do root for them even if I am not a fan of where their design direction is headed. I’m not saying it’s not wrong to think about sales, as any company that plans to stay afloat, should have a healthy business model. However, with the XM, it’s nothing but a massive steaming fresh…
The modern leather-lined crew-cab pickup truck. It’s neither a good “car” nor a very good truck, except, maybe, for towing. It’s too big, too inefficient, handles poorly because of the high center of gravity, and doesn’t offer secure, weatherproof storage (in its bed). If I had to narrow it down to one, it would be…
