Reminds me of Tomba, another cute platformer that didn’t even make it out of the PS1 era.. sadly the company is shut down now. Not sure if Namco will make a modern Klonoa but I’d be all up for it!

Well firstly, half of all gamers aren’t women, especially during this era. I worked at a GameStop during this time and girls & women were few and far between. It is only a little more improved nowadays. It would be awesome if it were true but it simply isn’t.

Everything was trying to be extreme and edgy for attention back then. But it was kinda funny to see ads try to outdo each other in absurdity! I mean, look at the **TV** ad Nintendo had for Yoshi’s Island where the guy eats until he explodes

Not sure what any of that had to do with videogames. Videogames are often a place people go to escape life’s problems.

Pretty sure most of us remember this game mostly BECAUSE of its advertising... which im sure helped its sales a lot. Not sure why you would think this turned away people from buying it

Funny how these comments didn’t get approved after all this time. Guess Kotaku doesn’t want to mention anything that would put Rapp in a bad light because it doesn’t fit their narrative of her being innocent and harassed. fun times.

Yeah, the other article about Rapp had a bias in it that made Rapp seem innocent too. Can’t expect honest reporting here at Kotaku (probably one of their buddies)

This is just like those complaining about piracy effecting their sales. Its a lame scapegoat for when their games aren’t selling. Maybe its not selling... because people aren’t interested? There are plenty of narrative heavy type games that sell fine and have Lets Plays.

I see what you are saying, however most of the games you listed here have complexity over say ... Flappy Bird, Solitaire, Angry Birds, Match 3 clones, numbers, average Freemium titles, etc. Heck 95% of them are clones of something else.
