I don't know, if Sony actually goes through with the movie and thinks it will succeed I see them just outright buying the rights from them. I think they now the value of holding all the rights of something that you're investing a lot of money in, especially when it comes to merchandising and different forms of media.

This will be worth it if Sony steps up and utterly annihilates any claim that Harmony Gold has on Robotech/Macross/Southern Cross/Mospeada.
