I think most of them are actually alright. They could use some refinement to make them pop like a good character design should.

Theme song? These days any show is lucky to have a "theme song" longer than ten seconds.

It's cartooning more than anything. In a medium like animation where subtle expressions are harder to render, big eyes are easier to read. Disney and Warner Bros have been at it for a long time and nobody ever complains about that.
