Yeah, guessing Trump had some of his (or some borrowed) money invested in this company.

I would argue that the fact that it has the ability to get <20 mpg is a flaw regardless of the testing process. Hybrids have shown that for decades you can get excellent economy even in the worst stop-go conditions. This is just proof that ICE-only is stupid for a delivery vehicle in this day and age.

You can pile this and every other USPS problem at the feet of Trump appointee Louis Dejoy.

This deal was worked and approved by the Trump admin’s USPS Board and finalized 31 days into the Biden administration.

“The Biden administration”

Yeah. By gosh, why are they going to a company that makes overalls?

I can offer one possible explanation:

I think the real question is that when the EPA said 8mpg did they rate it with the EPA test cycle, or did they rate it for USPS use... because if it’s the EPA test cycle... that’s probably going to be closer to 3 or 4mpg when in actual use.

which begs the question: “Why the hell are these not EVs then?” it’s literally the perfect use case for EVs since idling does not waste energy like it does in an ICE.

For sure. But how do you improve by only 0.4 mpg?

Haven’t looked up the numbers myself, but apparently the new mail truck can carry twice the weight of the old LLV.
Fully loaded it would be considerably more economical.
I reckon that if you would limit the power to the 90ish hp of the LLV, that you’d also get much better fuel economy.

That said: WHY THE FUCK DOES A

A couple questions:

Exactly the speed limit? Not really, as long as there’s a 2-3mph hysteresis. And I wouldn’t, because there’s a logical explanation behind that behavior. That person is driving the speed limit because that’s the posted speed limit.

I had a person argue with me that if he DIDN’T perform rolling stops where he lives, he’d get honked at/yelled at/and even ran off the road once he got through the intersection because he actually came to a stop.

A friend had this happen last week. Driver texted and said “This is too far to go in rush hour traffic to deliver one pizza. Please cancel the order through the app”. Which apparently means that driver and ubereats keeps some of the money. So delivery guy was eating my friend’s pizza and telling him to cancel the

ITT: “it’s okay to break the law when I do it”

I call BS on them doing this and thinking it wouldn’t get caught. Like I feel at this point, Tesla is just trolling the NHTSA. As the saying goes “there’s no such thing as bad publicity” and they knew that when caught, it would be a super simple fix so I bet they just said “fuck-it, what’s the worst that can happen?”

I don’t. I grew up in a small town where cops had nothing better to do than pull you over for doing 1 MPH over the speed limit (not legal, but hey). I learned at a young age to not give cops an easy ticket.
