I was military coming up on (ugh) 30 years ago. The training philosophy has evolved quite a bit since then. All my best dogs were those dogs that were mellow and social—I hated worked with the landsharks.

I was on the CanineUnit and I am still a Law Enforcement Officer. Our dogs were not aggressive. If they showed any aggression they were kicked out. Their training was not about being aggressive as they were trained to bite and hold, not rip someone apart. My dog had no issues with other dogs they met while out with

People who just run up to dogs and start petting them (especially the ‘hand-over-head’ pet) without so much as asking the dog’s hooman drive me bonkers. I always ask 1) if a dog is friendly and 2) if I can give them a pet, then 3) hold my hand down for said doggo to give a sniff to see if they’d like me to pet them
