Somewhat related: rear wipers come with rear windshield washer nozzles, and on my old hatch I pointed my rear nozzle straight back instead of downward so I could spray tailgaters in their faces. I miss that dumb car.

Killing off manuals in entry-level cars means fewer people who grow up learning to drive manuals, and a smaller market for manual cars in general. That in turn will eventually affect take-up of those manual sporty cars you mentioned too.
