For someone really involved in the car business, the author really does spout way too much garbage for me to take him seriously, or even read without cringing.

This stuff is tripe. It's as bad as Arab drifting and you know it.

Thank you for posting that. WTF is wrong with this place? I feel sick ...

I'd imagine insurance is proportionately higher as well ... ?

There's so many other car enthusiasts that it's almost infectious. Lots of car meets, people to help with modding your car, and so on. My favorite memories of this place:

Been wrestling with this personally. Neither the wife or I particularly like or want kids, and the reason for kids would be because our parents want us to, or because we feel like we'd regret it later if we didn't. Neither feels like the right reason to do so, and we're already struggling with the time/money/energy

It provides hope, if nothing else. I've had to unjam a bent snow chain clasp with a spoon (that was at least metal), and that itself was at least a step up from trying to do it with my bare hands. Or a rock.

nope.

I remember being in a Taiwanese taxi and the driver had honked so much his palm had worn through the airbag cover. I think things have calmed down since.

Used but not Bro'd: STI

205k on my '02 RSX-S and counting.

"He wants manuals, too. "There are just some things you need to have," and a proper stick shift is one."

I think a lot of people in the States don't realize how bad car ownership can be in other parts of the world. High taxes and gas prices, narrow and poorly maintained roads, heavy traffic, inconsiderate motorists — I get the sense this is closer to the norm than what we have here.

I like how he aims for the tractor driver ... if I'm going down, you are too!

Corollary: it's even harder to aim and catch a money shot in zero-g.
