Cops are bastards everywhere, but so many of these reports seem to come out of Minneapolis or Aurora, CO. Like expecting a tweaker-gone-rogue story to be about Florida man, I now expect ridiculously racist/incompetent cop stories to have a Minnesota byline.

I’ve been saying for years every time some racist Lost Causer bitches about protecting their “heritage”, we should put up giant Grant, Sherman, and USCT statues towering over their Bobby Lee statues - Grant, Sherman, and a full color guard of USCT troopers in front of every county courthouse in Dixie.

The difficulty is walking the very fine line between resenting her (she honestly seems far less toxic than many celebs) and resenting what she represented (vapid, narcissistic wealth). Far too easy to go low and target the individual while continuing to patronize the cult of vapid, narcissistic wealth.

I’d bet the ratio of “want to help” vs. ”pay to make the problem go away” skews heavily toward the latter. Inattentive parenting probably plays a key role in both the child being deemed in need of such “correction” as well as this system of abuse continuing unchecked. I have lived a large chunk of my life in the developing world. Doing so has taught me to have immense faith in the strength and character of young girls and grandmothers from underprivileged communities. Faith in the rest of humanity, not so much.
