This is a good comment and you should feel good for making it.

I’m talking about this accusation of rape also. The weirdness with the rape kit certainly casts some doubt on the whole story. So much doubt that it’s more likely than not a false accusation? Hardly. We don’t know that the mother, much less the accuser/victim intentionally perpetrated a “hoax.” That’s your biased

I’m going to go with “based on her accusation.” You can debate the statistics all you want (and there are some problematic ones circulating), but it’s pretty non-controversial to say that legitimate accusations of rape occur more frequently than false ones. Hence, “a good chance.”

Maceo’s a troll account, I’m pretty sure. Like a B+ mashup of PFTCommenter and Ken M, just trying a bit too hard to be great.

“I am also aware that most halfway decent studies have control groups.”

Care to share what aspects of the methodology or analytical strategy you object to? Or do you just have a feeling that, deep-down, your pre-conceived worldview is the right one?

Every scientific study has methodological limitations. No peer-reviewed science journal will publish your study unless you disclose and discuss those limitations. A study with no “flawed” methods isn’t science. You and Wilbon sound just like the agenda-driven ignoramuses you seem to think these scientists are.

I’m a social scientist... I study decision making in living people (and occasionally monkeys). But my wife, whose experience I’m drawing on here, studies degenerative eye diseases. She primarily works with mice. Specifically, she sacrifices them (yep, that’s really what they call it) and chops up their little eyeballs

You know this is how research works, right? If I’m a grant-funded researcher, and I’m getting my materials from a non-profit/government org (e.g., PP)—whether those materials are human tissue, or mice, or whatever—I reimburse that org for their expenses in getting the materials to me.

“She’s going to effectively erase Margaret Thatcher from the history books.”

I’m in the same boat. I was initially skeptical, and I still hope Bernie stays in the race for several months to continue to pull Hillary further left on income inequality/banking regulations/guns/war, but I think she’ll make a solid, if not great, president. The right-wing tears will be a delightful bonus.

Hey, but Cam doesn’t have any tattoos!

Little known fact: at one shining moment in franchise history, the Panthers had 3 (!) members on the 7th floor crew on the roster

Obligatory post about how these fuckers deserve it all because I’m tired of their ads.

I was in a bar in downtown Milwaukee when the Zimmerman verdict was read and there was raucous cheering and applause. Also there was country music on the radio. Milwaukee is the South.

Is this some kind of ProBaseballTalk parody comment?

That word... I don’t think it means what you think it means.

Relevant:

Tricky thing is race correlates pretty highly with being a “mobile” QB, so even if Hochuli does give more calls to white QBs, that still gives him enough plausible deniability to get by (in the eyes of the league office and Joe Sunday NFL Fan).

Also great for the stock of apparent lockdown corner/ballhawk Josh Norman. If I was him I’d try to keep it up through McCown and Jameis, then renegotiate my contract before we head to Seattle.
