You do know that Megaupload is off line right.

Potato Head Dictators are Probably Smarter Than the Real Thing

Sadly we don't even know how life actually started on earth. They have ideas (a few competing ones) but still we don't know. It may be that we're a fluke in the universe for all we know. It would be great to find life elsewhere but I won't be surprised if we never discover anything either.

Yes. These are much more reminiscent of polly pockets to me. Lego is so "important" to the tech community though the author couldn't very well say that, though.

Worst execution of an interesting idea all year.

This booth itself is sad. It looks as though he's waiting for his booth banners etc to arrive. Surely no one shows up at a show and just uses whatever is provided by the conference centre?

This sounds like a challenge to me.

Dear RStormgull

If you mean some kind of gadget you can use in your kitchen or directly lead to a cure for cancer then this science was not done for the benefit of the human race. Lots of science is done to find things out for no other purpose than that.

Lipstick on a pig. Unless the food is different in any way I still wouldn't go into one.

Twinkies are edible but so are ball bearings if they're small enough but that doesn't make them food.

We use XP at the company I work for. It's stable and does everything we want it to do. I use Windows 7 and MacOS at home but businesses tend to go slow on this kind of thing because it can be expensive to change what isn't broken.

Living on the Canadian Prairies this house would not last but then it's designed for Portugal.

"methods and procedures" are standard patentable material. It's a way to make something as broad as possible so you can say "I did it first, so give me some money". Does it promote innovation? The exact opposite usually.

Wait a minute. So you promised people the chance to shoot you in the face and then you're surprised or angry when people do? I'm not sure which is more ridiculous, the promise itself or being surprised when people take you up on it.

It might be that September 11 has very little resonance to Koreans. They are possibly more cognizant of their own history having suffered through wars on their own soil and living with a divided country. Just a thought.

If you actually go to the website to use twitter you're using it wrong.

The more the merrier, I say. What's surprising is there isn't more of them. The barriers to entry are obviously low. Why doesn't gizmodo start their own?

You're confused. When things become acceptable they are, by definition, not cool anymore. For example, tatoos used to be cool but now since grandma's are getting them routinely it's just not cool anymore.

It is ever thus, I'm afraid. Politics trumps everything if given a free hand.
