@josh6135: I beg to differ on the cost point. If you want PC graphics to equal X360 or PS3 graphics, you need a video card that, by itself, costs nearly as much as (if not more than) said console. And then you've still got to get a case, power supply, CPU, RAM, hard drives, etc. A decent gaming rig these days costs…

@scrapking: No, authentication was only required for the server browser. Single player and direct-IP connection did not require it.
