Help me out here pal, I can’t follow your argument with all of this hyperbole and insults.

Personally, I’d need that pause to be many times its length – and probably have a scene change and/or someone else speak in between – before I interpreted the ‘monster’ line as a ‘separate thought’. And there’s a rhetorical (if illogical) throughline to it – ‘I’m sterile’, ‘I was sterilised so that I could be an

Just a quick reply to say that it’s 2:30AM here in the UK, and I just got up because I remembered that I forgot to put some food away that’ll go bad if I don’t. I’m glad that I checked my notifications though, as it looks like you and I (and your wife, and my female partner) aren’t a million miles away in terms of our

I think you’re putting a lot of weight on that pause. Unless that pause is far longer than I remember it being, she’s still labelling herself a monster in the same line of dialogue that she’s revealed her infertility. And that would be fine if that association was challenged in any way – either immediately in the

That’s a smart reading, Nick, thanks. I don’t think I’m going to enjoy the film any more next time I watch it, but I’ll try to keep an eye out for the things that you’ve mentioned and think about them some more. (full disclosure, I’m a massive skeptic of the ‘blood is thicker than water’ idea, and my critical position

The point is that the film presents Natasha as inhuman because she’s a woman who can’t have children.

I think it’s the fact that she describes herself as a ‘monster’, and that that self-description goes entirely unchallenged, that people are rightfully coming to view that film as a low point in the MCU. (That and the film was generally garbage.)

It’s not what it sounds like!

(It’s exactly what it sounds like.)

I’m not sure Spring Breakers is meant to be ‘enjoyed’. I think I spent most of the run-time literally demanding that it explain wtf it was doing. You should definitely not watch Trash Humpers if Spring Breakers didn’t do anything for you.

I see what you did there.

You bastards!

Tbf I’ve only seen Avatar on a small screen, but I imagine that a 3D turd is still a turd.

That’s clearly a photo of Chris O’Dowd on a shark.

I too have a friend who credits Peterson with helping him out of a dark place, but said friend also believes that the gender pay gap is a myth so it’s hard not to agree in principle with Pinkie Fisticuffs’s assessment.

We had Peter Cook, but we also have Michael McIntyre. There’s a strong case for us as the best and worst nation for comedy.

Nah, that’s Bowie’s plan.

I have met Malkmus, and he was absolutely lovely. We were driving across the UK to see Pavement at All Tomorrow’s Parties festival and, unknown to us until I walked past Malkmus on the way to the toilets, both my group and the Pavement tour bus had stopped at the same service station to have a piss. It took me a
