Here feels like as good a place as any to admit that I 1) have a PhD in English (this isn’t meant to be a covert brag, as you’ll soon see), and 2) I only 2 books from cover to cover this year. And they both consisted mostly of drawings.
I remember seeing him in the soulless aircraft hangar that is Alexandria Palace and immediately afterwards two fucking Shoreditch CUNTS insisting that the man we’d just seen on stage was an imposter (IDGAF, it must have been the real DOOM at least 1 of the 3 times that I saw him). But still, given his reputation for…
Yes. And to make boatloads of money, both off standard-issue morons who like xmas music, and metalhead morons who think that because it’s got guitars it’s a really edgy alternative to other xmas songs.
One song comes to mind - here in the UK at least, ‘Christmas Time (Don’t Let the Bells End)‘ has regrettably extended the lifespan of The Darkness’s awful shtick.
I can’t endorse his views on the Fast and Furious series because I’ve not seen a single one, but his supposedly hot takes on Fincher’s Alien 3 and Timothy Dalton as Bond are entirely on point.
There are some decent songs on Acid Rap, but I'd agree that Coloring Book set the stage for The Big Day's crappiness
I was starting to worry that no one had posted this.
+1
Stiff competition from Catherine Tate and Billie Piper, but yeah, agreed.
I only managed one episode of the second series before giving up (a shame as the new Master was pretty decent) but iirc Yaz is by far the best of the three companions (i.e. the only one that can act).
This deserves way more stars.
About 10 minutes into this one I thought that the AV Club grade must surely be a bit harsh. It’s obviously a weird decision to ask us to give a shit about a whole new bunch of characters in the penultimate episode, but I’d give it at least a C.
Who, like all Egyptian-born Spanish nationals, has a Scottish accent.
I’m seeing a lot of talk about Bond, and not a lot of talk about Zardoz.
Found it. Now what?
Ah yeah of course. I knew that I was probably wrong as I typed that, but couldn’t remember the year. I should have remembered that Adore was ‘98 and that ‘Eye’ is part of that electronic phase.
“relatively few artists take advantage of the possibilities of a “sequel album.” Lil Wayne does it all the time”
‘Dross’ and ‘The Everlasting Gaze’rank alongside many of their best songs from the previous century. ‘Eye’ and ‘Aeroplane Flies High’ are real top tier stuff, but I’m not 100% sure when they first appeared. ‘Heavy Metal Machine’ is stupid but fun.
Who the fuck is running that Pantera account when they broke up about 20 years ago and half of them are now dead? I'm betting that wasn't written by Phil or Rex.
