Yeah, much as I’ve enjoyed spouting off about Muse here, they’re actually remarkably similar to QotSA – first few albums by each band are pretty good, and then with each album after that the number of enjoyable tracks diminishes.

In the plus column for QotSA, they’ve just become dull, whereas Muse’s post-Black Holes

You need to see more shows.

Agreed Black Holes was the last album of theirs with a single good track.

Josh Homme being an asshole? Quelle surprise!

He’s right about Muse though.

Um, mate. The bees one was the best one. The second episode was the crappy one.

As a Brit by birth (but absolutely not by choice), I resent your implication that I give a shite about football.

The new single is.... acceptable. I feel like there’s a lot going on with Daryl’s vocals but they’re low in the mix, which works for Jesus Lizard but not so much for Glassjaw imho.

Shit, yeah, that too. My medium-term memory clearly isn’t up to much.

Now playing

Obviously, it’s all shite except for ‘Christmas is Awesome’ by Reuben:

“things you’ve never seen in superhero films: a finale”

my My, Old School reference there!

Betcha can’t Do It Again though.

IT’S JUST ONE OF THOSE DAYS
Flyin’ like a jet plane,
First one to complain,
Leaves with their neck snapped.

As a Brit who hates Britain, there’s not much that’ll make me take offence on behalf of the country that I had the misfortune to be born in, but that line... I was about to fire back with something like ‘How about England (and the rest of the UK)‘, but I’m glad that you got there first as I did not know about how late

I’ve just checked Youtube and I’m afraid you’re totally wrong – it is Collins’s best.

Well, either that or ‘Easy Lover’.

To be fair, only one of those is *good* hip hop.

I think the real story here is how awful that photo of the kid is. I mean, he has my sympathy, I’m staggeringly unphotogenic myself, but surely this star-in-the-making has people whose only job is to make sure only the good photos of him become publicly available?

‘Cake and Sodomy’, ‘Get Your Gunn’, ‘Dope Hat’, ‘Lunchbox’... that album is critically overlooked AF.

I’d broadly agree – there are definitely three tiers, with DD1 and JJ up top, DD2 and LC in the middle, and Defenders and IF down the bottom. (And, tbh, IF is definitely the worst.) Both DD1 and JJ benefit from compelling and well-performed villains, and I’m saying this as someone who otherwise cannot stand David

I made it just over a minute in before deciding that whatever intriguing intertextual connections were uncovered (in books which I admittedly haven’t read) weren’t remotely worth having to listen to this shithead.

Oh, okay, I’ll take the bait if no one else will...

“Dee Eye-Sage!”
