If "gender ideology" is "not believing these people really couldn't find a single female-driven comedy pilot worth airing in this day and age, thus suspecting there's an irrational sexist bias at work that ultimately prevents good series by women — and therefore female perspectives — from reaching the air" then yeah,

So you hang out with bigots. Neat. Why would you tell us this?

"Dear AVClub: I have not seen the outdoors in some time, and responding to your news item seems like a fulfilling way to spend my remaining time on this planet. You may expect to see my sarcasm by end of day. Yours sincerely, Chuko Kpolugbo."

I love self-referential humor.

Great, I've been saving this one!

ITT: a whole bunch of clairvoyant TV critics, complaining about a show that hasn't even aired for the rest of us mortals yet. Ooh, spooky!

This is the only fan theory I've heard in the last month that didn't annoy me. :) That is actually a pretty damn good observation.

I have fond memories of watching a ditzy coworker bop up and down in her chair, obliviously mouthing the lyrics to "Don't Stand So Close To Me." I don't think she had the faintest notion who Nabokov is.

I condemn Jo to audio Ludovico treatment with Ides of March's "Vehicle," to cease immediately after she learns the difference between "authorial voice" and "narrative voice."

I'm feeling kinda old and grumpy after the last couple weeks of AV Club, too. Can… can I hang out with you guys? I can bring my own canasta set.

Basically, most critical statements that dismiss entire bodies of music by genre, date of release, instrument choice, etc. are egocentric nonsense.

"So needless to say/I'm odds and ends/I'll be stumbling away/Slowly learning that life is OK/Say after me/It's no better to be safe than sorry."

Next week, Jo Firestone on why the gender politics of Ivanhoe are just unconscionable! How dare the people of 1820 not share our values! Plainly, exposure to any culture that existed before third-wave feminism will rot your soul and turn you instantaneously into a Redpiller.

Wow, it's almost like you've misjudged a fandom based on lame stereotypes or something.

I want to see the new weekly feature where all the people bitching about these comics have to show us their own pathetic attempts at stick figure scribblings, and try to arrange their knee-jerk snark into multiple coherent panels of dialogue. Those who can't do, become regulars on the AV Club.

"References lack annotation (who is 'Woody?') and you make a flat declaration of opinion without supporting evidence. 'Sucked' is not a valid thesis in itself. (Why did she suck? What particular parts sucked?) See me after class; I'm very concerned about your performance this semester."

"Every animal and robot in the universe generates the delta brainwave, as do certain trees. Jesus, however, does not."

No, if I recall the lyrics to "Heroin" correctly, he merely FELT just like Jesus's son. That just means at some point in his life he got to feel Jesus, which is how he knew what He felt like. (Kinda downy, I imagine.)

Okay. He's got a nice voice. Now, let's discuss lyrical content…
