The bright side of modern automotive design is that it keeps me from lusting after all these cars that I can’t afford anyway. I just calculate how much money it will take to keep the FD on the road until I die.

That manual shift knob would look like a manual shit knob in no time. That material wouldn’t hold up at all.
I’m amazed how many times I am in the right hand lane traveling at a speed just above the limit and someone comes up behind me, follows way too close, but won’t pull out and pass. Eventually I get into the left lane and they speed up and pass. WTF is wrong with these people? Am i the only one this happens to?
Just what baseball needs. Fields full of Chad Johnson and Terrell Ownes types. What would REALLY make the game better is uniforms with pants that sag.
We’ll see how it goes. We haven’t seen a lawsuit yet from an autonomous car killing someone. Dollar signs in the eyes of lawyers and victims can change things quite a bit.
It’s not exactly the same thing. You can only vet employees so much. You can do as much as you want to train them and choose good people, but they are still humans. most people understand that. However, if you design and build a machine and AI that kills you have more responsibilty. In my opinion.
I just wonder how expensive that will really get.
He’s already dead, but that would be fine, I guess. However, given the choice in the emergency situation I would drive him myself and not choose to let the autonomous car drive him. I have no real beef with them. I can’t say that I’m confident they can become as close to perfect as everyone seems to think since car…
It isn’t more wrong. People get sued too they just don’t have as much to take. It is the liability of a huge company that I’m wondering about.
I think that is the golf ball he scored an 18 with.
Is drone is a euphemism?
I know. I agree with you. My point wasn’t about motorcycles or cars or buses. It was about liability. I don’t know how, without immunity legislation, Google or Apple or any other company could afford to put thousands of autonomous cars on the road. Accidents do happen and will happen with ACs. When they happen their…
Let me consult Alexa...
It could be, I suppose. It could also be an argument that if autonomous cars can’t see or anticipate a bus moving they might be a bad idea to let loose on the streets in the thousands.
You’d sue them too, but they probably only have so much money. A company like Google (or Amazon) has too much to lose to have people suing them every year for accidents their cars cause that kill people. Look at the Takata air bag incident. Their product was faulty and cause injury. What if a Google car hits a school…
Not sure. Let me google it and I’ll let you know.
In my mind they are recommending my bravery for not editing it.
No, if I have a problem with a drone I just kill it with a jet ski.
Good point. My bad. I’m not going to edit that so everyone can make fun of it. I might learn something from it.
It was only a bus. Those are hard to see. I’m sure it would have been different if, say, a motorcycle were there instead. If my son was killed on a motorcycle by an autonomous Google car... I’d own Bezos. Well, lawyers would own most of him, but I’d get my pound or more. And that is why these things have an uphill…
