The museum has a first gen Volt that we use as a staff car. We have have had only one issue out of it in nearly 50K miles. A software issue that was promptly fixed, so yes, based on our usage, it’s been great.

DeLorean, every weekend unless its snowing (not anymore in TN) or chance of storms/heavy rains.

True, Nashville is relatively cheap, but the college town where I live is significantly cheaper, both cost of living, tax rate, and home prices. And yes, it’s all how you value one’s time. And non-profit museum jobs are typically low-paying and hard-to-find. It’s a labor of love, and it works for my family.

Can’t get the Niro EV in Tennessee. I think I could order from an out of state dealer, but that might be a hassle.

Just checked the latest Insight’s fuel economy numbers....yeah, that’s added to the list. Thanks for the suggestion. You’re right about the reliability as well.

Ditto. Seat comfort, especially as I approach 40, is pretty high on the list for a long commute. Granted, I haven’t sat in a Bolt yet, and the redesign last year supposedly added padding, but I’ve heard/read many reviews that GM cheaped out on the seats. Maybe the next gen will get more padding and lumbar support.

I also have a 150 mile commute, an hour each way. It works for me because A) I live cheaply and happily with my family in my midsize college town, and B) my current dream job doesn’t exist in said town, so I have to drive to a job that I love and makes me happy. Also, Nashville is really expensive, and the extra cost

I am strongly considering this, as I have a 150 mile round trip daily commute (all interstate), and I can charge at work. The combination of the 2nd gen Volt’s better reliability and depreciation make it a good option. Heated seats and heated steering wheel, with the comfort package, helps too. I also believe CarPlay

Ah, my two favorite things converge, Raiders of the Lost Ark and cars!

Among all of the WFH ideas out there, this one makes the most sense. Why couldn’t you “move” to a summer rental or airbnb at the beach (or mountain cabin, or lake, or whatever)? When you clock out at 5pm, you’re like, there, man.

Hmm, I like the cut of your jib on this one. Maaayybeee...

$6 bucks a person, which is still a deal in my biased opinion, and every Saturday and Sunday. Some Saturdays in the summer are “Museum Fun Days” and basement tours are FREE and first come, first serve. Those are listed on our website. Depending on the current situation, our first one this summer will be Father’s Day

The basement for now. Yes, we are kind of running out of space, even after building an outbuilding last year.

Why am I not surprised that you have a LNA Jonee? Next time you come to the museum, you’ll have to check out our Visa Club and Visa GTi.

I love the look of the steel-but-secretly-alloy look of the VW Heritage Wheels. Look great on my Herbie.

We have an Auto Chenille at the Lane. It still runs and drives, but its tracks have been replaced with the more traditional metal tracks. They made a hundred or so, and not every one went on an expedition. We are not sure if ours made a journey or not.

My second car (and my first classic) at age 18 was my beloved 72 Super Beetle with Auto Stick Shift. I was okay with a manual at the time, but I thought this might be easier around town, and the price/color was right. $900 bucks, Enzian blue. As mentioned already, it was painfully slow. I only used “Low” gear to start
