I have hundreds of seasons on DVD… I watch the ones you can't stream (Homicide, Gilmore Girls, Babylon 5), and I've loaned some of my seasons out without caring much when they'll return.

Prime and Netflix remove so many of their movies anyway that it doesn't bug me as much, but I've bought dvds only to have them pop up on streaming a week later and then I've returned them.

Terry Gilliam apparently.

Lynch's Dune worked for about the first 45 minutes. That book cannot be reduced to one film.

A lot of those used to be on Amazon Prime. I own more than half on DVD, which will now collect dust since Apple TV doesn't involve getting up from the couch to put a disc in. What is this world coming to?

The ship probably sailed on you enjoying Heavyweights since much of my appreciation from it derives from nostalgia, but it's a very quotable movie.

Jabba the Hutt was realistic. Americans are fat, greedy slobs who want to keep women chained up in bikinis and who send Rodians to kill you if you dump their spice at the first sight of an Imperial cruiser.

That's a disturbing picture, but it validates my concerns. Thank you.

I could see it turning out basically just like that.

Snyder's Watchmen works so well. I just rewatched The Fisher King last week which is probably as close to the tone of Watchmen as Gilliam has ever got except for maybe 12 Monkeys. He was wrong for the job. What would Gilliam have done with Dr. Manhattan's penis?

Revenge - Ministry
Tarzan Boy - Baltimora
Some Girls are Bigger Than Others - The Smiths

Lopez' show sucked and Arsenio Hall's is worse. Millions of people tune in to programming marketed toward minorities, but they're not going to watch if it's crap.

Capote was by far my favorite of the 5. Brokeback had great cinematography, but was a boring story.

The films seriously downplays Canada's role. It did blow and I wanted to punch every person I saw who said "argo fuck yourself" like it was some catchy new phrase.

Chariots of Fire is a culturally significant film to people of Jewish or British heritage and boasts a widely recognized film score. The film was deemed significant enough to be featured prominently in promotions for an Olympics that happened less than two years ago. The quote that I commented on was not one that was

You have established that you have knowledge on this subject through citations from the "vast majority of people" but also through "everyone you've talked to." Because of the broad scope of such assertions, I wanted to know if everyone you've talked to encompasses the vast majority of people.

Exactly. People hear the music and know that it's from Chariots of Fire. One could say they may fondly remember the music in conjunction with the film.

By everyone you talked to, do you mean the vast majority of people?

But is it a fond footnote?

If you go to England, you'll find plenty of people who fondly remember Chariots of Fire. It was featured prominently in the 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremonies. Disliking it on the grounds that it's boring is one thing, but it is a fondly remembered movie.
