TBH, I didn’t realize non-flatbed towing was still a thing. Yikes!

Yes.

That was the perfect answer.

“Fix it and compensate owners for the difference” runs into the same problems. It’s been pointed out to me that European diesel standards are a lot lower than the US standards, so they can probably handle this in their home market. China probably doesn’t care, so that handles their biggest overseas market, as well.

You’d only make that suggestion if you were sure your political party controlled the psychiatric profession, and would always control it. I suspect this is one of those “be careful what you wish for...” comments.

Like he’s the only one?

32K??!!!

If they’re gonna call it like foreigners normally call these things, it should be “TOUCHDOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!”

OTOH, we get absolutely reamed on car insurance and property taxes. And a house in my home town costs a minimum of $350,000 for a small cape cod. Still wanna trade places?

I absolutely agree, and may have made that same argument in other replies in this thread.

“I suspect Sanders and HRC supporters will ultimately alienate each other if now is any indication.”

When the state of Michigan has board seats on GM, and 1 in 7 jobs in the US depend on exporting cars, I’ll accept your analogy.

“Margret Thatcher” would also have been an acceptable reply.

“Is New Hampshire officially the state where all hell breaks loose in the Democratic primary?”

“It’s your fault for being stupid enough to believe me in the first place,” isn’t exactly how you keep your customers happy.

Because that would set a precedent they can’t afford?

Exactly. If there was a cost-effective way to do it, they wouldn’t have cheated in the first place.

“the extinction of VW as we know it today.”

Given the technological hurdles involved, and their economic isolation, we may not be wrong.

It’s not like we had a choice. The Americans who worked with the Nationalists pretty much didn’t like them. And we thought we needed Stalin on our side against Japan - indeed, we were willing to write-off eastern Europe to get it.
