Jalopnik needs to do car reviews for all these stupid and weird finds. The seller gets free advertising and Jalopnik gets a new series. Win win for everyone, except for David Tracy who will probably end up being the one to test drive these embarrassing death trap mobiles.
I’ll bet it steers just fine, given that the engine is so far forward. But I’ll bet it also has the turning radius of the Exxon Valdez. And none of that would much matter if driven around in a state of perpetual wheelie... which is exactly what I would do with it until it broke in half.
Why is the first thought I have when I see that “Trump / Pence”?
This is really the best possible use of a Chevette for “street legal” use. In other words, excluding dragsters.
I was interested until 10k.
You cannot buy taste, but you can buy a welder.
for me it’s hit or miss, I suppose depending on which device I use to comment, though I have not discerned a pattern yet...
I’m guessing it was written incorrectly. Probably means timing belt done 22K ago.
Just be thankful your teenage years were in the 2000s, cars from the 80s just crumble in your hands like Pringles. I just bought a 2000 Beetle and to be honest, for a $2K car that’s 20 years old most of the interior plastic bits are doing just fine. To put it into perspective, 20 year old 80s cars back in the 2000s…
I have a beef with the trend specifically with taillights. Not only do murdered out such not look good, but they also don’t look safe.
The murdered out trend is played-out and wasn’t good to begin with. It was just a cheap way for people to customize their cars. A few black rattle cans and some plasti-dip and you have murdered your car. This is advertising for lazy owners.
Just throwing out an idea here, but it’s very possible that the car was 10+ years old when it hit 22k and they did the belt due to age instead of miles.
and lexus parts aren’t cheap
I wonder how hard a manual swap would be for one of these though...
Here is what they go for:
I was thinking $7500 but reluctantly gave it the NP even when I saw $9K. This era Lexus IS is very reliable from a quick google search, mechanically simple, and classically styled. Despite the black out this appears to have been well cared for. To me priced a little high but the seller should get close to asking.
saw this and went straight to the NP button.. I love these cars, but...
Manual was available only in the sedan.
Kinja apparently thinks I respond too often. Anyone else have troubles with being able to comment?
