Thiel’s citizenship was only revealed after an investigation into how the billionaire was able to buy so much environmentally sensitive land without going through a foreign ownership review.

“I don’t want to dismiss ethical concerns here, but I worry that ‘conflict of interest’ gets overly weaponized in our politics,” Thiel told the New York Times

If they would’ve just come out and said something along the lines of, ‘look, man, we need our jobs, and this guy is cutting the checks now, so there’s a new way of doing things’, at least it would’ve been intellectually more honest.
