Sometimes, you just want Elon to screw the hell off. He’s using this moment for media attention - how is that thing supposed to fit through areas where supposedly the clearance is less than 1m? And it would be outrageous to use this new untested vessel for such a critical mission. We all know that Elon may have a

It’s a good looking car, but with the downmarket creep of these luxury brands, that face just does not look special enough to warrant $112K when it looks like a mildly stretched of a 3 series or X2 face. This is the completely foreseeable impact of a car company that is trying to make cars in almost every segment.

To be fair, I think that is what Toyota and Lexus usually do.  They never do this super long striptease thing with anything, they just release cars.  However, with the development with BMW it seems like that’s what’s causing a lot of things to leak, namely spy photos and such.

At what point should a car not be street legal?  4.2 to 100mph sounds like a good reason to be not street legal.  Cars are getting safer but roads generally are not

Who is this least responsible section of our population that you are referring to? Anyone with legs?

You’re being quite dismissive of the issue. And conducting some classic ‘its always the fault of the pedestrian’ thinking. When you design a space for people you also have to consider that people can be hard of hearing or visually impaired, and EVs are more difficult to hear especially at low speeds.  Barely any tire

I don’t agree that this is the solution - anything that requires the driver’s judgement to apply won’t have the same effect of a passive and continuous noise, which provides an auditory signature for drivers and peds who may not even be aware of each other.

That’s a great comment and you’re totally right on

It’s handsome for sure, but it’s hard to be surprised by what a BMW looks because they can’t change their faces around that much. It kind of looks like a brawnier and stretched Q60 which is not a bad thing.

This is the most immature I’ve seen Jalopnik readers. She’s just pointing out a real trend.

It seems a bit sensationalistic, but think about it - they made a design change based on on random person’s experience on reddit. Someone else who gets into a crash could totally have the glove box’s contents eject themselves and injure them in some other way. Then what, is Elon going to change it back? When you

Sure, but I’ve got to say that a glove box programmed to open upon a crash is a stop gap solution, just as a response to this one person’s story. It all goes back to Tesla’s crusade against any physical buttons or latches in an attempt to appear modern or something. Totally reinventing the wheel. Or the button, in

I think this formula is going to work great for Honda. It’s a premium-ish Civic with incredible mileage. The new Civic has great bones and Honda is trying to salvage its Insight name which was tarnished with the second gen.

I think for a company that is establishing itself like Hyundai/Kia, they aren’t going to prove to me that they actually developed what it takes to be a unique and respectable car company when they just hire European leads for all the important roles. It says to me that they don’t trust or find strong enough value in

Don’t understand why Kia tries with this car in North America! Looks like Schreyer let loose on the reins though, the front end looks rather 90s/early 2000s Korean...meaning overwrought and rather awkward

Those three pedals are a cruel tease if they don’t materialise in the production car

It seems that the Koreans don’t desgn, they hire Europeans to design for them.

The lack of women in car culture and the lack of women liking cars is two different conversations. You certainly don’t need to be part of a community to like cars - I have loved them forever but I really didn’t have friends who liked them until I was 30. It was quite an individual obsession for me. You happen to

Wow, yeah, so malicious and evil that the insurance companies are contributing to safer cars. I really appreciate IIHS for the work they do - the government just slammed cars repeatedly straight on into a wall. IIHS does innovate - remember when the Camry badly failed the small overlap in 2012 and then they fixed it

I’m happy to wait if it means they are de-BMWing it. It’s only spent time in Germany so far, it seems
