Google didn’t fail at Stadia because of technical reasons. They failed at the product-ization of the technology. They didn’t deliver on promises. They didn’t make it easy to adopt. They didn’t ‘support’ most Android phones at launch. They didn’t tie it into Youtube or Search in any useful way. They didn’t let it work

Even with your caveat that not everyone has $10k to squirrel away, it’s an understatement to say that it only ‘helps’ to be rich. It’s an absolute requirement. There’s a pretty base level of wealth (and family support) that you need to have to have $10,000 in cash laying around which is above and beyond a rainy-day

Melancon notes that if we’ve had reason to be distrustful in the past—particularly if we have a history of trauma—we tend to carry those wounds with us into future relationships.

Thank you for this.

The only place worse in my experience was Bali since not only did it have a 3 hour wait, but you got to also pay a visa-on-arrival fee for the pleasure...

Mobile Passport has been great in the past. But good luck finding a line at some airports these days (I’m looking at you O’Hare)

Thank you for this. I’m 38 and my 7yo is DEEP in this journey. Also started via Youtube, but we had to cut off the youtube videos because of the dopamine “unpack more decks!” fix.

They’re already doing this, selling upgrades at the kiosk. At least for American it comes up.

Indeed I am catless and cookie-less!

Wait. So the premise to this “hack” is that a person who runs out of dishwasher detergent, is going to have liquid dish soap AND baking soda?

Worst case scenario, they say no and you stay in your current seat, but often they’ll just give you a better seat without your having to pay anything extra.

A paragraph or two explaining why we should include “underemployed, marginally attached, and discouraged workers” as UN-employed would be helpful. Some (not all!) workers in those categories are early/post retirees who don’t want to work more, teenagers who can’t work more, and underskilled workers for full-time

Just make sure to temper your expectations for what benefits you’ll actually even get.

A number of the biggest benefits of miles used to be significantly more flexible booking: fully refundable. Now that most airlines have similar flexible booking rules for cash fares, I wouldn’t buy miles in exchange for coach seats.

A lot of comments here jumping on the military, but there’s 0 chance these bases won’t be renamed if the decision is entirely up to the military.
