Is the sanction only against bulgy cotton cargo shorts? I favor nylon/spandex hiking shorts that have flat zippered thigh pockets for my summer casual needs. Their overall profile is indistinguishable from non-cargo shorts. I guess I’m asking: is the the shape or the function that makes them unfashionable?

They ought to erect a series of arches with bells on chains hung at just the right height leading up to this underpass to create an audible or possibly tactile (depending on the weight of the bells) alert that you’re not going to make it, and should take another route.
