The car business is an oligopoly--prices are sticky in that environment, so yeah, they’re not going to do the consumers any favors.

yup - the cost of the components of a car don’t have anything to do with the price. The price is set by whatever the manufacturer (and subsequently dealer) thinks they can get away with.

I predict that the prices of the cars will not decrease dramatically. Maybe slightly. The profit margins on them, however, will increase substantially.

It’s almost like they choose to ignore the entire human history of paid labor that says ownership will always sacrifice public interest in order to make more money personally.
