During the first Gulf War, three of my friends were minding their business walking on the sidewalk and a passing car called them “sand n*****s”. Since my friends were Indian, one of the helpfully shouted back, “No you moron, we’re from India, we’re dot heads.”

My nephew, class Valedictorian and Very Nice Kid, signed up for the Marines right after 9/11, before he even graduated high school. He was sending 10% of his military pay home to his Sunday School when in short order he was killed in Ramadi.

Re: the title of the Chris Brown song “These Hos Ain’t Loyal”

Hey, Chris, maybe if you stopped acting like bad things happen to you (when in reality it’s you inflicting bad things on other people), reacting with an ironic racist response, and thinking being held responsible for your actions is bad luck, then maybe you wouldn’t be the butt of jokes.

Brown’s offensive reference to the wrong ethnic origin goes nicely with Ansari’s joke about people telling him to “go back to...the country you’re from!”. His follow up is that the racists tend to not be geography buffs.

Aziz’s bit about G.W. Bush in his opening monologue cracked me up. “What the hell has happened? I’m sitting here wistfully watching old George W. Bush speeches? Just sitting there- ‘What a leader he was!’ 16 years ago I was certain this dude was a dildo, now I’m sitting there like ‘He guided us with his eloquence!’”

Actually, it’s based on a very popular book, and seems to be aimed at animal lovers in general. There is no “resurrection” and it’s not a thinly veiled Christian allegory—maybe you should at least read the book or a summary of it before assuming any of those themes? Talk about lack of depth and intellectual

I don’t think so. They read books, play videogames, and watch cartoons. There is a shitload of dying and coming back to life in those things. I am 100% sure that I would cry watching the movie waaaay more than my friend’s 8-year-old who will probably be seeing it this weekend; I cry reading the book.

Gordon Korman wrote a book called No More Dead Dogs:

No way would I take my kids to a movie where you know at the outset that the premise of the fucking movie is dogs dying.

I like seeing these comments, because it’s like you can see the gears turning in these people’s heads as they try desperately to come up with ANY explanation for why we’re wrong and they’re right. Deep down, they know they’re the bad guys.

I saw someone attempt to argue that men actually have fewer rights because prisons are “stocked” with men. Uh...men commit over 80% of all crimes so yeah, seems about right! When asked if this rage also includes anger about the school-to-prison pipeline or the disproportionate sentencing for men of color, well...you

My husband took the baby ... and they both marched with me. And didn’t even demand cookies at the end of the day. HOW DID HE DO IT?

I was in tears reading the comments, seeing pictures, hearing the speeches, I was scrawling down and read this comment about a guy saying something like this “I am staying today with the baby so she can go and march” and it made me so mad.

Uh... you know that diverse groups have diverse opinions and people get to voice them. Progressive people tend to get this. It’s not “infighting” or “eating your own” or whatever else detractors want to call it. Our diverse movement can support and respect multiple opinions at the same time - even ones individuals

Does the dog get hurt?

In Seattle (where I used to live so I know this is true of Seattlites) out-of-towners were baffled by the march stoppung for lights and crosswalks. That’s how polite it was!

Grass can be very informative. It is like....the internet...for dogs.

I was pleasantly surprised by how many men were at the NYC march. One of my favorite chants was a call-and-respond where the women shouted “My body, my choice” and the men responded “Her body, her choice.” I’ve been feeling very alone in this crazy country recently, and today was a good reminder that we have friends

Saw this guy’s sign in my instagram story (don’t know what city).
