The cop wrote the ticket.  The entire scenario only happened because the dumbass cop enforced a law he made up on the spot.

There’s always at least one bootlicker in here. Cops who abuse their authority to enforce laws that don’t exist absolutely should pay out of pocket for the trouble they cause. Until they do they will never act with restraint or accountability.

The cop isn’t the witness, he’s the perpetrator. He’s the criminal in this case, therefore, it should be his onus to pay court fines, not taxpayers.

Anyone think this cop’s made up BS like this to ticket people before or was this a one-off that just happened to have legal-sounding language?

Exactly. What’s to prevent the police from throwing random offenses at the wall and seeing what sticks? There should be consequences for actions.

Time to retrain that cop and I hope the judge reamed him for it. It’s important to remember that these kinds of cases tie up the courtrooms and cost the courts unrecoverable money.

I’m glad he did it pro bono, because $7500 to go into court and say “you can’t break a law that doesn’t exist” seems a bit steep.
