Definitely not gonna happen if you’re starting with zero capital and Level 1.

    Nice.

    Cool!

Because he is a fluff, and therefore his name is Hammond.

    This is just science.

Right on! You can definitely play it in small bursts, but it sunk its hooks into me really hard last year, couldn’t put it down until I got pretty far into the post-game. :)

    Sadly. Yes.

It’s not quite the same, but maybe give Disgaea V a look? That game is bonkers JRPG silliness in the best way, because it embraces being campy. The levels of strategy are also quite deep.

Given the numerous comments exclaiming “he didn’t play the game right”, “you clearly just don’t like JRPGs”, and “this obscure website says there’s an entire second half of the game that’s super secret”, plus folks harassing him on Twitter for pointing out that the narrative is disjointed...

Haha, that I do. I’ve said my piece on a few threads and I’m gonna leave it at that. This game isn’t for me, it’s probably 11/10 for others, and that’s okay.

Obviously reviews are subjective, because that’s just how entertainment value works, but I think your judgement of Jason’s criteria is a bit disingenuous. Prioritizing narrative in a JRPG over game-play mechanics does not immediately disqualify you from being able to give meaningful criticism.

Damn, kudos to him. Takes a fair bit of strategy to pull that off with absolutely no kills.

Solid review, as expected given the truth bombs you’ve been dropping.

For someone who can’t stand whining you are sure doing a lot of it about perceived carebears.

We are rapidly approaching peak “IT’S JUST A PERSONA” gamer velocity.

And so begins the slow descent into Mobile Gaming Madness™

I don’t know if I fully agree with that though, there are some great Indie games on the Switch this go around.

Echoing Tony’s statement, I’m pretty stoked that we’re getting so many Wii U games because I never owned the console. Nintendo makes some additional money on older assets and I get to play a game I otherwise couldn’t on a superior console, win-win. :)

I hope it sells well this time, if only because I think it’s a really charming game. I’d like to see a sequel, or at least a design continuation, down the line.

I’ve been waiting for that shoe to drop for some time now.

    Neat!
I don’t think I’d ever have the time to incorporate it, but neat!

I think my main concern might be that respawning all of the enemies would result in a lot of retread ground, but I also haven’t read his rule updates so maybe he addresses that.
