It’s a beauty, despite the ‘eccentricities’ highlighted by others. I’d ride it with a big s#%t-eating grin on my face! What a great save!

Because COVID+ passenger.
Nice find! I had been looking for an affordable Moots YBB (which I think the Unicoi is based on) for years and finally settled on a KHS Solo-one, which is a steel version of the same softail design.
The Mantra is on my list of future builds, right below a Lefty-equipped Raven!
Awesome - I love weird vintage bike stuff and now that I build/tinker with bikes more than I ride them, I care less about function and more about aesthetics (my ‘daily driver’ is a Trek Y33 with an Englund Air sprung Judy SL - functionally garbage by today’s standards, but beautiful!)
I don’t think there is such a thing for me. I eventually get bored of anything I own.
Yes, still have the Jetta and there’s definitely a turbo there. The throttle response is awful and unpredictable with the Jetta and often nothing really happens when you hit the gas. I’m sure the software adjusts throttle sensitivity according to the rate of throttle application or something but it never gets it right.…
We had an ‘05 Ralliart wagon with the 2.4L (?). I really missed the throttle response and low end torque (in relative terms) when we sold it for Jetta with the 1.8t
As a 4th gen (V8 6-speed) Firebird owner (in my 40s!) I came here to enjoy the overwhelmingly negative commentary only to be surprised at how measured it is... I’m so confused.
Can it baby? Is there enough room in the back for car seats without having to sit on top of the steering wheel/dash? We ended up with a Tacoma because the back seat in the Colorado and Ranger were too small for non-amputee children. I like the idea of a compact hybrid truck...
Holy panel gaps Batman!
The ‘84 version had the same body style but came with a solid front axle, not IFS. That’s the most desirable version IMHO. I had a black ‘84 xtracab SR5 in high school that looked just like the one above. The interior was amazing.
Tall, heavy, 4WD dressed up as a vintage NASCAR. What’s to like?
Chevy s-series - small, simple (at least some models), relatively large engine option (4.3), metric stock car front suspension, huge aftermarket to make it everything from a rock crawler to a road racer.
“I can’t find any evidence to suggest they work any better than a $20 set of new Shimanos from your local bike shop.”
Clicked just for the comments. Was not disappointed.
I get it, I guess this bike just isn’t my thing. I’m fighting an inner battle at the moment to stop myself from paying $200 for non-cantilever bridge for my 1995 Judy SL. I’m running XTR v-brakes on my Y33 and the vestigial cable stop wears on my soul.
I spend an inordinate amount of time geeking out about minutia on bikes as well, so I can empathize with that (I have 1 modern (fat)bike and 6 vintage bikes). This may be an unpopular question, but why invest so much time, money, and effort into this specific bike? It isn’t a classic Reynolds 853 or Prestige frame, it…
She’ll probably teach online, like the majority of professors are currently doing anyway.
ND at the price but that body is just screaming for a modern drivetrain - so many flares and points and wings... awesome.
