The X-Files episode on Jan 31st started with two teenaged girls stabbing each other in the dark on a rusting ferry at a dock. In the context of the show, they were suffering from hallucinations that the other girl was a monster, planted in their minds by a third character.

I get what you’re saying, especially in regards to Nikki. One of the (numerous) reasons I will never run for office is my parent.

I think it depends on how a religion or organisation teaches morals. If they only teach their members to fear punishment, be it divine or worldly, then they aren’t really teaching morals. I’ve heard people admit that they’d happily do X or Y if it wasn’t against their religion (or would cause some other consequences),

This story is a perfect example of why we should not have organized religion.

Holy crap. Wow, I’m sorry. I have no other words (ok, other than I f-ing hate church/cult/communities like that).

This is where the parenting wars enter into play.

This happened to me all the time before I had kids. I once was even told I needed to be on call for our department every holiday. Every single one. I was in Business Development at an online site. It was so insane. No one ever called, but still F them.

I married late(r) in life and we can’t have children. Most of my career has been hearing, from bosses and coworkers, how little my time as a single person/child-free person meant.

The stereotype of the man, especially the corporate man, as “provider” is so pervasive and damaging to men and women.

Isn’t that the oddest thing?

There’s a lot coming out in the PR world (see my list here), but not really formal investigation. As far as I understand, Nassar is the only one who committed easily quantifiable criminal acts (assaults, child porn), and whether there was actual criminality or just ass-covering incompetence in the management and
