If the car has suffered many problems in the past and the owner is just fed up with it. Would explain why he just wants it gone.

I had to vote a reluctant No Dice on this one. It’s not good looking enough to be a collector or real enthusiast car and if it hasn’t had major repairs recently it’s a time bomb waiting to blow. The engines in these are awesome but I believe it's the transmission that's the weak link and repair/rebuild is more than…
I can’t speak to the bicyclists and motorcyclists you’ve seen but as someone who rides both I can definitively say that being on two wheels can be dangerous around “cager” morons who fit this story to a tee. You have to be avery defensive rider in traffic. It's well worth it though because both activities open your…
Not a screaming deal but still NP for this classic wagon. They’re not fancy or fast but are comfortable cruisers, reliable, safe, and relatively economical. I learned to drive on a 4 speed diesel wagon (245). That was a gutless turd of a (Audi) engine, the gas is much better.
That is stock and a good sign that the car is in good condition. The warning stickers on my NB with 105k are pretty much all worn off (from sun, maybe because it was originally from CA).
I have that exact car and I’ll say $13k is a bit rich but $8k all day long. Pop up headlights are overrated and the NB is in every way a better car, especially the NB2 with the VVT, sweet 6 speed transmission, sort brakes, 16" wheels, and a Torsen limited slip diff. Miatas got fat and full of needless tech after the…
The Maine DMV sounds like a bunch of hypocritical jerks. They’re revoking registrations for safety and environmental reasons? So that clapped out ‘77 Chevy pickup to 2 houses over sporting a 350 with leaky piston rings and an out of tune carb is ok but a kei car is an environmental killer? Gimme a break!
I 2nd the 4Runner suggestion. Get a later model 4th gen with the V8. My ‘03 V8 Limited feels like a sports car after driving an F150 for a few years. It’s got great torque at any RPM, 0-60 in the 6s, tows 7000lbs, and will hammer dirt roads all day long without complaint. And Toyota reliability.
