@Diminuendo: A Game of Thrones is on my list of things to read... unfortunately, I've already got a shelf about 10 deep of books waiting to be read.

@Blackie: I hear that! I learned the F5 trick from coworkers when I worked in a command center. We had to keep logs of every issue we worked, pretty much down to the minute. When we called who, what they said, etc. It was a hassle to keep up with and continually append tickets if I was the only one actually looking on…
If you're going to be using notepad anyway, why bother with .LOG? You'll end up wasting time opening and closing every time you want to append something to it. Instead, just hit F5 — instant time/datestamp. Then once you've added your note, do a save-as once and name it whatever you want. After that, just ctrl+s to…
@aec007: I like to live dangerously! ;)
@Tall_Guy: I would NOT want to have your summer. Ouch!
@aec007: I actually just went to the store to buy tomato and bacon for the BLTs. :)
@mhr512: Don't forget that in Texas, humidity doesn't get above ~20% - 30% unless it's about to rain. That makes a BIG difference. We don't get the heat up here, but we sit at about 45 - 80% humidity, which makes it harder for us to cool off. In high humidity your sweat can't evaporate like it can in low humidity.
@aec007: Not so much. I usually make the toast for BLT's anyway... or a bagel. Man, it's been awhile since I've had a BLT...
@aec007: Lies. I unplug my toaster all the time. Actually, I keep my toaster in the cupboard since I only use it maybe once a month...
@chiieddy: I got hosed, too — for different reasons. I'm an apartemnt dweller and everything runs off electric (heat, A/C, oven/stove)... in an area where most residents use natural gas. My figures put me at 1.5x - 2.5x electricity usage compared against everyone else... I'm never going to be below the average because…
Rice bags. I love these little things — and you can make them at home with some scrap fabric on the cheap.
@tobylane: Depends on what windows you have open. We live on the second floor of a 2-floor apartment complex. I can keep my north-facing windows open all I want and be perfectly fine (bedroom, which is nice for sleeping), but if I open my south-facing windows at ALL during the summer I get a heatwave in my living…
@TheFu: Way to completely lambast someone for not doing it your way. "OMG skadoosh isn't as hardcore as me!!!!111 I live in an 82*F house all summer huuurrrrrrr~!!"
@Maave: How do you plan to just... drop 20 pounds?

I stopped by for a little while - unfortunately, just after the open bar dried up - and it seemed a nice little shindig. :)
@Fernando Jorge: Maybe it's just me, but I have found that many games are far better at offering subtitles (that you can turn on/off) than they were just a year or two ago - and some of these games have "advanced" subtitles, which offer extra sensory location that's great for the deaf. It's not a large number of games…
@snowtires: I end up having to pay 2.50 for the tiny washer and dryer in our apartment's basement, so I'm right there with you. We also have a tiny kitchen that's already overrun under the cabinet with recycling bins and trashcans, and cleaning supplies. Unless I want to store dirty rags with my clean dishes I don't…
@infmom: That's the best kind of problem to have! :)
