The ST is sold in America, as well. Ford (in europe) has a good history full of AWD performance vehicles, how can you debate that a FWD setup doesn't effectively neuter the car?

It would really move the car upmarket if it even had an AWD option, and leave a lot more room for performance enhancements. A Focus with AWD, mechanical diffs, and a mid-range turbo is a much more competitive car. Mustang killer, anyone?

The Golf R only weighs ~100 pounds more than the ST, and it packs a lot more luxury items as well as AWD; The WRX weighs about the same, and packs AWD as well. Texas has some of the highest speed limits in the US, it's pretty decent. My commute to work has a speed limit of 75 (SH 6), and there's certain roads that are even testing 85mph limits, like loop 130 around Austin. Passing a cop doing 90 and not getting pulled over?

So when are they going to get rid of the lame FWD in the Focus ST and make it AWD, like the good cars pictured?
