A very, very, very good Bad Idea. A Local Motors Rally Fighter ‘kit’ car.

That guy right now is probably the worst writer here at Jalopnik. Budget of 80k and the guy suggests to what 99% of people is just a fuck old regular E36, with the smallest engine so dog slow and needing extensive mods to be not even close to some of the other <good> suggestions.

The only recommended vehicle that actually meets his requirements is the lead photo... and is then completely ignored.

You want a poor decisions car? Fine. Be like my friend’s younger sister and buy a used Maserati.

What’s so “poor decisions car” about that?

She lives in North Dakota.

I’m pretty into that Evora in the main picture. What about one of those?

It’s also the only thing suggested so far that would actually make the life insurance agent nervous.

Always a soft spot for 5th generation Civic door handles.

Look if you want a wildly impractical car and it has to be a car (I’m actually thumbs up with the 3 wheeler idea owning a VH Carmel myself) there’s no good answer but this.

[rubs chin approvingly]

“Yes, I would like to order a tuned down M2 with a worse interior and more depreciation for the same price”

A guy asks for something unique and two staff recommend BMWs?!?!?

Bah, the BMW suggestions might be bad decisions, but they’re also boring bad decisions. Oh, another E46? Yawn.

Hm. So you want Bad Ideas. Something that can replace a 4Runner. I admit, a Viper is a good idea. A sensible package of insane horsepower. Let’s... push the envelope a bit.

So, I can’t figure out the challenge. The guy is keeping the 4runner, so everything is on the table correct?

You have no imagination.

Its the same 1.4L motor that the 500 and a few other models have.  Won’t be hard to support it, but the body work and glass will be a bitch.  It was already several weeks to months to get many parts before the cancellation announcement.

From my understanding this has a Fiat Motor not a Mazda one. How difficult do you think it will be to get parts for it lets say in 10 or 15 years? Anything else that is Fiat specific other then the body work I should be worried about if Fiat pulls out of the US again?

And yet the TourX failed. They didn’t market it properly, they were hard to find on dealers’ lots, etc.

GM sold like 20 high-profit Silverados for every Regal wagon. And the Regal didn’t sell, not because it was a terrible car, but because it was a station wagon. Americans only buy wagons when they’re called SUVs.

I agree with this. It was more efficient (compared to the similarly powered 3.6R), better transmission, more comfortable, easier maintenance
