Someday, yes, but not soon. A Miata may seem like a “go-kart with a transmission,” but the reason they’re so popular is that they are surprisingly usable! My NA has hauled bags of pellet fuel, jump-started a Mini, performed site visits for home battery installations (van was in the shop), bought groceries, gone hiking…
Somebody call Exocet, then. Someone needs to cook up a body for this that is literally the bare minimum amount of welded tubing required to keep the driver from going splat if something goes slightly wrong.
No matter how you look at it, Tesla is still in the best place of any manufacturer.
The reasonable assumption (and probably the smart business approach) would be to get the new batteries fully developed and to then utilise them in the Roadster. If there’s anywhere that you want smaller, lighter batteries, it’s in a performance car.
Yes, this is exactly how I feel. Cheap EVs are kind of dire right now, and not everything needs to have a monster range. In fact, it would probably be to this car’s detriment to have a bigger battery. In the same way that not every car would be improved with a more powerful engine.
“electric penalty box (Leaf, Niro, etc.)“
This is actually extremely attractive to me, as I’ve got an under 10 mile commute, and wouldn’t mind something to supplement my four season miata for the colder/rainy days. This will also fit snugly in our relatively small two car garage next to the miata. I’d just need to install more electricity out there (the…
i honestly hate mustang guy, but mustang guy is right here.
Never so happy to see the /s.
You should be looking at the road, not staring at the cluster. It had big digital numbers that tell the speed so you can glance at it every now and again.
It’s definitely not trivial but certainly a poor excuse to exclude it from consideration unless there is an ulterior reason. My guess is for some it’s butthurtism.
Your issue is the “reasonably”. I bet a bank would loan you $40k on an engineer’s salary (of course this depends on your other liabilities). A bank would loan me $40k, and my salary would be on the low end for an engineer. I can’t reasonably afford a $40k car, but I could “afford” the payments, if I were willing to be…
I got an ATS instead of a 2series because i like the Caddy interior better.
Fat ass wiper stalk gave too much away.
Nnoble, did your wife run off with a Cadillac salesman? Your post was about 5% accurate.
Yep, a year or two more and one will depreciate right into my driveway
Co-signed. It’s not perfect but it’s an INSANE used performance deal. Buy one for $40,000 or less and you’ll have a car that can kick most cars’ asses.
