The official word is that Ford will be laying off 1,400 people

No. This was the tourist day. You show up in your normal road car, spend a few Euros, drive a lap or two and go home. It’s like a toll road without speed limit.

There are tons of outlets. He played the victim saying that there was no way to use it. I can go to SCCA Track Night in America, SCCA solo events, NASA TT/HPDE, various dragstrips, etc. If you can’t get to a roadcourse for less than $100 in Palmdale, then you’re a liar. Yeah, there are some expensive trackdays, but

The car in this story had a whopping 190hp when new. 15-20 years later, through loss of compression, I’d assume a 0-60 of somewhere between 9 and 9.5 seconds, which is turtle-slow. Also, Cali, where this occurred, has severe street racing laws. What common sense law towards car power levels would have stopped this

Reminds me of that old Simpsons episode - “Videotaping our crime spree was the best idea we’ve ever had!”

Now this is a crack pipe.

Capping horsepower or speed solves a non-problem. The amount of crashes that truly result from people racing overpowered cars is ridiculously low. It looks awful and it triggers a visceral fear reaction, but that’s it. You’re orders of magnitude more likely to die because some asshole in a toyota cuts you off in

Yeah, I said the same thing to him. I also want to address his “we do literally nothing to combat street racing.” That isn’t true at all. This happened in Palmdale, CA. California has some of the more strict street racing laws in the country, which if you google “California speed contest laws” you can easily read up

CP all the way. This car does not need a turbo, the 5sp is a fragile bitch (I know, I nuked 3 in my swapped car) and only 61k miles since when, it was manufactured or totally rebuilt?

First, that’s a 1999-2004 Mustang with a V6. All of 190hp driving the car to nearly an 8.6 second 0-60 mph time, if you’re lucky. That alone thoroughly disproves your hypothesis. Your conclusion to limit horsepower is completely moot. Morons in cars are going to be stupid, no matter how much you limit them.

Generally I have to roll my eyes any time a dealer claims theirs is “probably the nicest in the country.” That one though just might be. Time bomb or not...wow.

Finally, a sensible 6-passenger Mustang. That way, the kids in the way back can have front row seats when Dad does a burnout and crashes into the Piggly Wiggly after cars and coffee...and meth.

You were lucky then. When I drive the A8, it usually looks like this...

Speed does NOT kill. It’s idiots that do NOT understand how to drive safely. I am from Germany, but live in the US. I go back very often since I test/review cars as a freelancer. I drive over 200 mph several times a year on public roads, without any incidents or close calls. It is possible!

All three of them will be furious indeed, and they will come and kick your ass once they figure out where their dentures went.

Man, I don’t know, but I don’t like it.

It’s because the USA is more divided than ever!

Sounds like a party. An autobahn would be a great way to cross the flyover states/prairie provinces, that’s for sure.

Maybe I should have mentioned doing it illegally. You darn Europeans.

How Mustang trailers are made.
