Seriously, my GTI does this now when I have even a mild weight in the front seat and the seatbelt icon blinks incessantly. And I roll with my rears split, golf clubs on one side and my work bag on the passenger side, so there is nearly always a weight on the rear seats.

This is such a letdown. I was planning on putting a deposit on one of these once they were released - my wife is up for a new car, she specifically wants an EV, she likes minivans, loves the styling of this, and she owns an arts + crafts store which would look great with this parked out front with a two-tone scheme in…

They have no incentive to. The people making the calls are incentivized (via big bonuses) to cut all “nonessential” costs in order to post bigger profits to their investors every year. Putting aside money cuts into profits.
